Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some of the most frequent and fundamental questions about our services.

What is cloud cost optimization?

Cloud cost optimization is a combination of strategies, techniques, processes, best practices, and tools that not only help reduce cloud costs but also maximize the business value of using the cloud. It involves enhancing cloud cost efficiency by identifying and reducing mismanaged or excess resources, taking advantage of discounts to reserve higher capacity, and rightsizing computing resources to specific applications and workloads in your cloud environment.

What is FinOps?

FinOps is an evolving cloud financial management discipline and cultural practice that enables organizations to get maximum business value by helping engineering, finance, technology and business teams to collaborate on data-driven spending decisions (Definition provided by the FinOps Foundation Technical Advisory Council).

Which cloud service providers do you support?

Currently we are specialized in AWS (Amazon Web Services), GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and on various on-premise Solutions.

Do I really get the report for free if you can’t reduce costs by more than 20%?

Yes, absolutely! If your infrastructure is already optimized and we can't recommend any actions that will save you more than 20%, you still get the full report of our analysis without being charged.

Will your optimizations impact the performance of our applications?

Definitely not. When analyzing your infrastructure, we focus on optimizations that will have zero impact on your applications or your users. But sometimes, it can be worthwhile to accept a slight degradation in performance if the potential cost saving is large enough. If we find an issue like this, we’ll bring it to your attention and discuss the options.

What happens if we don't agree on specific cost saving recommendations?

After our analysis is complete, you will get a full report which includes our action plan. We’ll then go through the action plan together so that you have the chance to provide feedback. We’ll then discuss any issues and update the plan so that you’re comfortable with the final result. We won't change anything without your full consent.

How do you deal with GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations)?

We are located in Germany and as such, we are a legal German entity (GmbH). Our tools and data are hosted exclusively in Germany.
